What is in the Hydration Drip?

Is the Hydration Drip just saline?
Almost. The Hydration Drip is one liter of sterile isotonic fluid with electrolytes, the same base every other drip on our menu is built on, and nothing else. It is $139 because there are no vitamins or medicines in the bag. If you want something added, the Pick Your Own option starts from this same base at $139 and adds ingredients at $20 each.
When is plain IV hydration the right choice over a vitamin drip?
When the problem is fluid, not nutrients: a hot day of yard work, a long run, a night of drinking without the headache, a stomach bug that has settled but left you wrung out. A liter of fluid and electrolytes replaces what you lost without asking your stomach to do the work. If you are also run down, feverish, or nauseated, one of the recipe drips pairs the same base with the ingredients for that situation.
How is a liter of IV fluid different from drinking a liter of water?
The route. Water you drink has to be absorbed through the gut over an hour or two and some of it passes straight through. IV fluid goes into the bloodstream directly, so the full liter is delivered during the visit, and it carries electrolytes in a balanced ratio rather than plain water. When your stomach is working fine and you are only mildly thirsty, drinking is the right answer and cheaper. The IV is for when intake has fallen behind or the gut is not cooperating.

Can I add anything to the Hydration Drip?
Yes. At checkout you can add Glutathione ($20) and Extra IV fluids 500mL ($50). The clinician reviews every add-on for fit at the visit.
Who should not get the Hydration Drip?
Our IV visits are for adults 18 and older, with no exceptions. Every visit starts with a clinical intake covering your health history, allergies, and medications, and your provider repeats a brief assessment on arrival. Pregnancy requires your OB provider's sign-off. Heart, kidney, and fluid-restriction conditions are reviewed individually, and fluid volume is limited for clients 60 and older. If the provider cannot clear you on the day, the drip is not charged and a $50 travel and assessment fee is retained.
