Heat stroke is different and is a 911 call: confusion, slurred speech, fainting or a seizure, skin that is hot to the touch with a very high temperature, or a racing heart while sitting still. Cool the person with water and ice packs at the neck, armpits and groin while you wait, and do not wait to see whether a mobile IV can come. Every visit starts with a clinical intake covering your health history, allergies, and medications, and your provider repeats a brief assessment on arrival. Pregnancy requires your OB provider's sign-off. Heart, kidney, and fluid-restriction conditions are reviewed individually, and fluid volume is limited for clients 60 and older. If the provider cannot clear you on the day, the drip is not charged and a $50 travel and assessment fee is retained.
