What is an ultrasound-guided IV?

A handheld ultrasound probe shows the vein on a screen while the IV is placed, instead of the provider locating it by touch alone. Hospitals use it for people whose veins are small, deep, rolling, or hard to see. Our founding Nurse Practitioner is trained in ultrasound-guided IV placement, and it is available by advance request.

How do I request it?

Write hard stick in the notes when you book, or text (615) 592-6529 before your visit. It is by advance request and when available, because the ultrasound and the Nurse Practitioner trained to use it are dispatched together. Give us as much notice as you can; same-day is possible when the Nurse Practitioner is on the schedule.

Which drip do I book?

Any drip. Ultrasound guidance, when available, is about how the IV goes in, not what is in the bag. The Hydration Drip at $139 is the base, and the Myers' Cocktail at $239 is the classic wellness formula. Add the hard-stick note to whichever you choose.

Question 4

Can you place an IV if I have a port or a PICC line?

No. We do not access ports, PICC lines, or dialysis fistulas on a mobile visit. Tell us before booking, and your provider will say whether a standard IV in the other arm is appropriate for you.

Question 5

What if the IV still can't be placed?

Accepted Answer

You are not charged for the drip. Every visit starts with a brief assessment, including vital signs and a look at your veins, and if your provider cannot place the IV, or decides an IV is not safe for you that day, for example because your blood pressure is low, the treatment is not charged. The $50 travel and assessment fee in our terms is retained, because your provider still made the trip.

Are there hidden fees?

No. The drip you choose is a flat price shown on the card above. Travel is included within our standard service area. Out-of-zone fees are quoted before checkout.

Question 7

What if it's more than a hard stick?

Accepted Answer

Fainting, confusion, chest pain, trouble breathing, or not being able to keep any fluids down means you need emergency care, not a scheduled IV. If any of those are happening, call (615) 592-6529 first. We may direct you to urgent care or the ER instead of dispatching the IV. Your safety comes first.
